NHI requested meeting with both Minister Donnelly and Butler to discuss the winter plan and how best to protect residents and staff during another winter of Covid.
- NHI referred to the National Quality Standards for Residential Care Settings for Older people Standard 25; Physical Environment. The original deadline for compliance was extended by Government by six years in 2015 to 1st January 2022 under S.I. No. 293/2016 - Health Act 2007 (Care and Welfare of Residents in Designated Centres for Older People) (Amendment) Regulations 2016.
- The Temporary Assistance Payment Scheme (TAPS), which was implemented by Government to contribute towards the cost of nursing homes implementing intensified infection prevention control measures not covered by Fair Deal fees payable, was amongst the first financial supports to be withdrawn by Government, ceasing end of June. The cessation was despite nursing homes, understandably, having to continue to implement cost-heavy measures not encompassed under the fees payable by the State.
