Budgetary matters
- There is a critical shortage of medical services, including general practitioners, mental health professionals, specialists, and dentists. The aging workforce, combined with inadequate succession planning, threatens the sustainability of healthcare in the region
- Education and Skills Development - South East Technological University (SETU):The success of SETU is critical for the South East economy
- Continued investment in public services is vital to making towns like Dungarvan an attractive place to live, work, and play. Enhancing transport links, such as the TFI Local Link networks, has greatly benefited rural areas by improving connectivity, supporting employment, and sustaining community vibrancy. Access to well-maintained sports facilities, green spaces, and diverse recreational opportunities is essential for a thriving community
- Housing and Urban Renewal - Affordable Housing Supply: Address the pressing need for affordable housing options—whether for purchase, rent, or holiday accommodation. A robust housing market is crucial for attracting and retaining a workforce.
- Ireland's high operational costs challenge businesses, particularly in staffing and HR. Proposed increases in statutory sick pay, parents' leave, pension auto-enrolment, and minimum wage may deter hiring, accelerating a shift towards the gig economy. This shift risks negative impacts on society and the tax base.
