Asked Environment
Deputy Michael Creed asked the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government with regard to his proposals for tyre disposals, and given that discussions with sector representatives have recently broken down, the way the proposals, as currently under discussion, will deal with the danger of business being driven across the border to Northern Ireland, or to the online sale of tyres; the rationale for the over 300% increase in the cost of tyre disposal, as proposed in talks with the representatives of the tyre sector, in comparison to what is currently charged; if he will re-engage with representatives of the tyre sector in an effort to address these critical issues; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
